The pay per mile for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) varies depending on factors like location, time of day, and the specific needs of the patient. Generally, you can expect to see rates for additional mileage in the following ranges:
Weekdays: $3 - $5 per mile.
Weekends & Off-Hours: $5 - $7 per mile.
Holidays: $5 - $10 per mile.

Additional Factors That Affect NEMT Rates
Base Rate
This is a flat fee charged for the service, independent of the mileage. Base rates also vary by the type of transportation, such as:
- Ambulatory (walk-in) Transport: $25 - 45$ (depending on time of day)
- Wheelchair Transport: $45 - $100 (depending on time of day)
- Stretcher Transport: $100 - $250 (depending on time of day)
Wait-Time Fees
If the driver has to wait for the patient, additional fees may be applied, often calculated per 30 minutes.
